Riviera’s Kyle Davison receives international recognition at the IBI METSTRADE Awards

Riviera Australia’s Kyle Davison together with Angela Pernsteiner were named accepting the ‘Rising Star’ award at the 2019 Boat Builder awards at the METSTRADE Convention in Amsterdam.

Riviera, Australia’s premier luxury motor yacht builder, was honoured at this year’s fifth edition of the Boat Builder Awards, with lead team member Kyle Davison, Riviera’s Supply, Planning and Production Director, receiving recognition in the ‘Rising Star’ category.

The Boat Builder Awards celebrates the business achievements of the international boat building community. The awards are jointly organised by IBI (International Boat Industry) and METSTRADE – the world’s largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international leisure marine industry and there is no bigger honour for business achievement in the Boat Building Industry.

IBI Editor and chair of the Boat Builder Awards judges, Ed Slack, commented: “The Boat Builder Awards celebrates the achievements of the people and companies that build the boats that drive our industry. They also recognise the invaluable work of those that supply vital equipment and services”.

The event was held at the Amphitheatre of Amsterdam’s National Maritime Museum with over 350 guests decorated in black and gold. Mr Davison was in attendance to proudly accepted the award.

“I never thought I would have the chance to win any award, let alone this one. It is a real surprise and distinction to be recognised by my peers within the global boating industry” said Mr Davison.

“Riviera has given me an amazing opportunity and winning this award is a direct result of the team I work with each and every day and the culture and teamwork philosophy that Riviera instils across the business”.

Mr Davison, was not aware that he had been nominated for the award, which is a testament to his work ethic and skillset. Starting his career at Riviera in the area of detailing completed motor yachts over 11 years ago, his passion for computers and enterprise resource and planning systems drew Mr Davison into the Riviera purchasing department. Here he worked on implementing new supply chain structures, helping to save valuable time and resources in production before moving into his current field and rising steadily through the career progression pathways implemented by Riviera Australia.

Well known across the Boating Industry for their award-winning staff training programs, Riviera has created a talent nurturing environment where craftsmen and women, support staff and management alike and are encouraged and guided to excel in their pursuit of excellence. Australia’s largest luxury motor yacht builder has a team of over 600 craftsmen including 74 apprentices, who are supported by a senior management team who strive to see each team member reach their individual ‘star status’.

“Riviera has always had an ethos of creating rising stars within our team and we are immensely proud that Kyle Davison has been given this industry recognition on the global stage,” said Riviera owner, Rodney Longhurst.

“Our highly-skilled Supply, Planning and Production teams overseen by Kyle manage the building of more than 100 very sophisticated motor yachts each year that range in size from 39 to 72 feet in length. There are over 6.7 million individual parts that come from over 700 leading suppliers around the world that are utilised each year in the construction of our yachts so the scale of expertise and detail required to build our yachts to strict specification and delivery deadlines is very substantial. When you consider that more than 50% of our production annually is exported, the delivery of yachts for shipping deadlines adds another layer of complexity. I am exceedingly proud of our team and of Kyle Davison’s ‘Rising Star Award’ which certainly is a just recognition,” commented Rodney Longhurst.
