The hull of Riviera’s luxurious new 505 SUV has now entered production at our Gold Coast headquarters ahead of her international debut at the 2020 Miami Show (13-17 February).
Having granted us a sneak peek of the completed hull mould’s mirror finish during our last visit to the restricted-access, new product development centre, Riviera NPI Manager Matt Thacker has revealed the mould has now delivered its first hull and is halfway through the engineering process.
“The hull has progressed on schedule and is now in the hands of the engineering and lamination teams,” he said.
“It’s all systems go and the new product development team is now focused on moulding the headliner which sits under the deck and also carries all of the bulkhead locking points. We’re looking to release the deck mould within days and the headliner mould will then be ready for detailing before also entering production.
“Ninety per cent of all small component moulds are now complete and are in production ready for Stage 1 – all engineering trades. With the deck and headliner moulds being released on schedule, Stage 1 fit-out will start in October. Joinery has started and will soon be processed through varnish and then assembled ready for final fit-out in November.
“The SUV hardtop has also been moulded and will enter production within the next week, which is another major milestone in the development of a new yacht.”
Having refined specific aspects of the design of the 505 SUV after reviewing a full-scale mock-up, our accomplished design team – working in partnership with Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst and CEO Wes Moxey – have delivered a yacht that is brand new from the keel up, resulting in a multi-functional, genre-bridging cruising and adventure yacht that embodies the ultimate in boating luxury.
Steering the SUV concept into inspiring new waters, one of the many outstanding features of the new 505 is the raised mezzanine seating and dinning area. This covered entertainment area gains extra privacy and protection from the elements, along with the comfort and convenience of built-in furniture, to enable sociable and enjoyable, year-round boating.
“Boating enthusiasts are really going to love the new 505 SUV,” Rodney said when announcing the new motor yacht earlier this year.
“She perfectly complements our growing SUV range. The 505 SUV adds a new dimension to refined living below decks with a full beam master stateroom, private ensuite and walk-in robe as well as two guest staterooms with shared bathroom. And then, of course, there is the Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit navigation system and silky-smooth and economical performance of twin Volvo Penta IPS turbo diesels with fingertip easy joystick control. She offers so much for families looking to put fun and freedom back into their weekends or families seeking extended escapes in one of the most innovative and luxurious Riviera models created.”
