Teamwork is something we can certainly appreciate here at Riviera so it was with great excitement that we welcomed the Copyworld Racing team to our facility on Australia’s Gold Coast this month.

Less than 24 hours earlier, the team secured the top two podium finishes in the final race of the 2016 Carrera Cup Australia Championship, staged around the tight street circuit of Surfers Paradise, Queensland.

‘Magic’ Mike Almond – whose Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Type 991 is proudly sponsored by our Adelaide dealer R Marine South Australia – was the man of the moment after his very competitive driving enabled teammate Alex Davison to claim the checkered flag.

It was a measured performance that showed maturity and team spirit – Almond withstanding plenty of pressure to claim second place and provide race favourite Matt Campbell with a very clear view of the R Marine South Australia logo on the rear of his car, and keeping the crowd focused on the Riviera branding that features prominently on the doors.

Mike’s loves of motor sport, Porsche and Riviera were instilled in him at an early age courtesy of his father Ross – himself a retired motorsport enthusiast and director of R Marine South Australia.

“Teamwork plays a crucial role in our achievements as a race team,” said Mike. “Everyone knows their job and pitches in to help us succeed.

“It’s clear from the quality of the luxury motor yachts being built by the Riviera team here at Coomera – that the team culture is very strong at Riviera too,” he said.

Overall, Almond finished the 2016 championship season in seventh position, with Davison second behind Campbell.

The 2017 season gets underway on the streets of Adelaide as part of the Clipsal 500 from 2-5 March.
