Fun and learning for motor yacht owners at the Riviera Festival of Boating

2018 Riviera and Belize Festival of Boating will run over four days from Thursday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27 and is held at the company’s yard in Coomera on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Australia.

COOMERA, QUEENSLAND – Planning for the seventh annual edition of the Riviera and Belize Festival of Boating is well advanced around new dates in May to coincide with the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, from May 24 to 27 2018.

The 2018 Riviera Festival of Boating will offer four inspiring days of boating education and family fun at Sanctuary Cove and at the world-class Riviera facility in Coomera on the Gold Coast.

Riviera’s focus on combining the rich rewards of the motor yachting lifestyle with learning opportunities will again be the focus of the Festival, with a wide range of informative and hands-on educational workshops conducted by experts in their fields, designed to empower and to promote boating safety and to build confidence.

Riviera Chairman and Owner Rodney Longhurst said: “More than 30 individual workshops and seminars are planned, including popular tutorials on offshore seamanship, weather forecasting, preventative maintenance, understanding radar, navigating at night, radio communications and offshore emergency protocols.

2018 Riviera and Belize Festival of Boating will run over four days from Thursday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27 and is held at the company’s yard in Coomera on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Australia.

“Living the Riviera Dream is a seminar especially for owners wanting to learn more about the joys and rewards of extended cruising from those who have cruised extensively, while the galley-wise workshop will help owners with planning and provisioning for a long weekend or extended long-distance cruising.”

He said owners will also be able to “Ask an expert about your classic Riviera” for models built before 2008.

Popular on-water workshops over the four-day Festival include an on-water skippers program, practical lessons in knots, lines and hitches, a ladies skipper program, safe towing, anchoring and rafting.

Practical classes are an important element of the Festival education program.

There will also be our special under-25s Skippers Club and a fun and practical Riv Kids skipper program to learn more about safely operating a tender.

Guided tours of the Riviera facility will also be a part of the registration-only Festival program.

There will also be an on-water showcase of Riviera and Belize motor yachts.

The Festival will include a red-carpet on-water display.

In conjunction with the dealer network, Riviera has organised a range of exciting social events for Riviera and Belize owners over the four days, culminating in the signature Saturday marina cocktail and gala evening.

Mr Longhurst said: “The Festival of Boating was created for Riviera and Belize owners to help them realise their full boating potential and to unite the global family of Riviera yacht owners. Pre-registration for owners of our yachts is now open.

“Those who seek to join our Riviera family of owners and enjoy the best of motor yacht ownership and wish to attend the Festival may contact their local Riviera dealer.

Last year more than 550 guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner and sparkling entertainment during the Let’s Dance gala.

“Whether you are new to the incredible lifestyle of luxury motor yacht ownership or you have been enjoying boating all your life, everyone will discover something new and valuable at the 2018 Riviera and Belize Festival of Boating.”

Mr Longhurst has also recently announced that Riviera will exhibit at the 2018 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show for the first time in five years.

“Riviera last displayed at Sanctuary Cove in 2012 and since then we have created and launched many significant new models that all feature great advancements in design, performance and achievements that we want to share with visitors to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show,” said Mr Longhurst.

Riviera Chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst with Sanctuary Cove Boat Show General Manager Johan Hasser.

“Over the past five years, we have released two entirely new motor yacht designs; our sporty and adventurous SUV collection and, this year, the magnificent new 68 and 72 Sports Motor Yachts

“At the same time, we have also expanded our Sport Yacht and blue-water Flybridge collections.

“Visitors to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in 2018 will have the opportunity to step aboard selected models from our magnificent range of new motor yachts. I know they will be very impressed with the calibre of yachts we are creating today at Riviera Australia.”

Pre-registration for Riviera and Belize owners to the Festival of Boating program is now open on the Riviera web site ahead of its public release.
