The evolution of an entirely new Riviera collection
The Riviera team is very proud to be have now completed a full-scale interior prototype showcasing the absolute grandeur and spaciousness of our latest design, the new Sports Motor Yacht collection.
The long-range and luxurious Sports Motor Yacht – available in 68ft and 72ft models – will boast up to four staterooms and optional crew accommodation, as well as a vast array of lifestyle features that will help owners fulfill their dreams of extended cruising in glorious comfort.
She is scheduled to make her World Premiere mid-2017.

Interior prototype
The completed luxurious interior prototype of the Sports Motor Yacht demonstrates the high level of consideration by Riviera designers towards our experienced Riviera Family of luxury motor yacht owners who wish to take their boating further afield. This new and unique design allows owners to cruise in ultimate luxury whilst still being able to fish effectively and enjoy a wide range of watersports such as snorkelling, diving and kayaking.
Clever considerations
On the portside of the alfresco mezzanine area is a door leading past the fold-down TV and timber-finish stairs with non-slip treads to the day head and shower. Adjacent to the day head is the separate utility room which in our prototype has been converted into a single-berth, very comfortable cabin for crew with direct access to the engine room.
Technology at your fingertips
This inspiring Sports Motor Yacht showpiece now has much of the major componentry of a finished yacht fitted and operational, including the next generation of CZone digital switching which can also interface with your iPad. The introduction of “push” technology enables you to control a range of features from your iPhone too – such as the full spectrum feature lighting, the saloon and master stateroom entertainment systems and also the optional cameras – and you can easily charge these ‘smart’ devices – every internal electrical outlet also features a USB charging point.
Gourmet galley
The exceptional quality of our design and craftsmanship is evidenced everywhere you turn, varnished walnut internal timber cabinetry and walnut satin timber-finish flooring to Riviera’s ship-like marine-grade stainless steel awning window that opens out and over the magnificent mezzanine from the gourmet galley. We have incorporated premium galley appliances like the Miele cooktop (with pot-keepers), the Miele rangehood and microwave convection oven. They galley also boasts exceptional refrigeration capability with four drawer refrigerators and two freezers.
Stylish saloon
In the Euro-styled and plushly carpeted saloon, which features sound-dampening fabric and leatherette paneling, the Sports Motor Yacht’s massive 55-inch TV rises electrically at the touch of a button and is easily viewable from both the large lounge to port and the leather dinette that seats up to eight people to starboard. There is generous storage here too, and the internal timber staircase with non-slip treads has also been constructed, providing access to the flybridge.
Presidential luxury
On the accommodation deck, the prototype showcases the sheer expanse of the optional ‘presidential design’, which features a private sitting area that can also serve as an informal workstation or make-up bureau. This full-beam master stateroom has a king-sized bed amidships boasting extensive storage underneath, from which you can enjoy the 40-inch TV and home theatre system with five speakers. You will admire the contemporary design of the opening portholes and fixed hull windows that will draw in natural light and fresh air either side of the stateroom, as well as the workmanship of the feature headboard and the bedside tables with leather in-lays, the his/hers cedar-lined hanging wardrobes and the mood lighting. Our design team has considered everything.
VIP guest accommodation
The very stylish VIP guest stateroom forward boasts a queen-sized bed with storage beneath and wardrobe space either side, outboard cupboards with positive locking hardware, a premium entertainment system and its own private ensuite. Sweeping hull windows are an eye-catching feature and will draw in natural light, whilst an overhead hatch enables fresh air as well as complete privacy when the Oceanair screen is slid across.
Accommodating staterooms
The portside stateroom of our prototype features two adult-sized single beds and, at the touch of a button, the inboard bed slides across to form a double. Note the bedside table with leather in-lays is a feature of both configurations, and that there is even more storage outboard and under the beds. Our prototype is the ‘presidential’ design. In the classic layout, the master ensuite is located aft creating space for an additional fourth guest cabin with full-sized pullman-style beds.

Construction continues
Last week we lifted hull No.2 from the Sports Motor Yacht mould – also a 68 design – and have now commenced preparation for lamination of the third hull: the first 72 Sports Motor Yacht.
For Sports Motor Yacht No.1, we are very proud to report that engineering is now 95% complete for the Sports Motor Yacht, and we have fitted all the major mechanical components such as engines, the optional gyroscopic stabilizer, hydraulic steering, Onan 27.5kW/50Hz generator and 13.5kW/50Hz back-up generator and the air-conditioning units.
The deck now rests on its new cradle alongside the hull and fit-out of electrics and components is well advanced. We have even temporarily fitted the marine-grade stainless steel bow rail to the deck to check that everything fits exactly into place. Early this week, the deck will be lifted and perfectly aligned over the hull as an additional quality control check.
Meanwhile, the flybridge outer moulds of the Sports Motor Yacht are now 100% complete and lamination begins next week, whilst smaller fiberglass parts such as the cockpit hatches and windscreen components are in the final stages of tooling.
We are on schedule to showcase this significant new model at her World Premiere in mid-2017.
Keeping you informed
By the time the very first Riviera Sports Motor Yacht is launched, a total of 650 working days will have been employed by an extensive and highly skilled team of master craftsmen.
