Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit – your world on one screen – discover more at the Festival of Boating

Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht Helm

COOMERA, QUEENSLAND – The Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit System is designed to bring together all the information a helmsman needs in one place and through one interface.

Integrated with the Volvo Penta Electronic Vessel Control system, the Glass Cockpit takes onboard integration to a whole new level, allowing you to monitor and control all driver information, including navigation, engine data, warnings and alarms in one or more customisable, high-tech, touch-screens.

The system is installed as standard in most current model Riviera and Belize motor yachts with a small screen low on the dashboard to display engine control by default and one or more large screens behind the wheel in easy view of the driver.

All screens are activated simultaneously when you switch on the motor yacht’s ignition. All settings, including instrument dimming, are carried out concurrently and need to be set up only once.

To accommodate various owner requirements, and to help increase safety, awareness and efficiency, you can pre‐program the layouts and create a tailor‐made display that shows important data and information in the way you want when you want it. Each screen can be set to display one piece of information or may be split into as many as four separate displays so that you could, for example, have your navigation chart, depth display, radar and a camera in separate windows of one screen.

Customised layouts can also be linked to specific buttons on the engine controls and the Inboard Propulsion System (IPS) joystick. When you press an assigned button, all displays switch in sync to the linked layout. For example, when you press the ”docking” button on the joystick, the layout can change and show a docking camera view.

Just as important to this system is the ability to store preferred layouts. You may wish to see data from one group of instruments when you are cruising and different displays when fishing or coming into dock. Glass Cockpit Smart Mode allows you to switch all screens at the helm from one mode to another without manually switching each screen separately.

Anti-glare and LED backlighting makes the Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit screens easy to view in bright sunlight while auto-dimming provides outstanding visibility at night.
