Assisting owners to gain the most enjoyment from their motor yachts has been a hallmark for Victorian Riviera and Belize dealer R Marine Jacksons for decades.

Dealer Principal Stuart Jackson says the team’s focus is to ensure owners receives “that little bit extra” in terms of service.

A strong example is two recent skipper courses organised by Stuart and his team.

The courses were held at the Sandringham Yacht Club on Port Phillip Bay, the R Marine Jacksons base.

The first day was organised specifically for ladies, attracting six eager participants to a full day of training. A larger group of men and ladies attended the following day.

The courses were presented by former Water Police training instructor and current Port Phillip Sea Pilot Coxswain Doug King. Doug is both an experienced powerboat instructor and author of the Boating Survival Guide.

The courses included classroom demonstrations and instruction on navigation aids, nautical terms, rope tying, radio theory and safety checks. There were also practical presentations on boat handling skills, anchoring and the use of emergency equipment as well as identification and meaning of cardinal marks.

Stuart employed a luxury Riviera 445 SUV for the practical elements of the courses, particularly to emphasise the anchoring techniques they discussed in the classroom and to identify cardinal marks in the bay.

Stuart and the R Marine Jacksons team treated the participants to a delicious lunch at the yacht club restaurant following an educational morning.

“Our focus for the courses is that our owners will not only learn more about the capabilities of their motor yachts but also meet new friends and enjoy themselves,” said Stuart.
